If you’re a newly expectant mother and want to hear your baby’s heartbeat, shop our medical-grade, at-home doppler pregnancy devices. We stock a variety of doppler pregnancy devices, from more affordable options to those with advanced features.

Hearing your baby’s heartbeat can truly be a special experience. Today, you can hear those sounds of joy from the comfort of your own home in between doctor's appointments. With our range of battery-powered and lightweight fetal monitoring at-home devices, you can add a bit of magic to the anticipation just before your bundle of joy comes earthside.

Just like you, we care about your child's safety, which is why every BabyHeart fetal doppler we sell has been entered in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG no. 277143).

Every kind of doppler pregnancy device on our website offers a variety of features. Our wireless mini doppler fits easily into your pocket. Because it comes with double-standard earphones, you can share this experience with your family and friends in between your doctor’s appointments.

Our standard doppler and advanced doppler pregnancy models come with an easy-to-read LCD screen for parents who want an easier time detecting their baby’s heartbeat.

These at-home fetal doppler devices also have three different modes: real-time fetal heart rate display, average fetal heart rate, and manual mode, so you can tailor the experience to your needs.

Our premium doppler features an LCD screen that displays your baby's heartbeat in waveform format. All our prenatal heartbeat monitors (except for the mini) also allow you to seamlessly record and playback your baby’s heartbeat – giving you a precious keepsake of your little one at this stage of their life.

Our pregnancy doppler ultrasound products are designed to be delivered in a complete package, so you can begin using them immediately. If you are looking to buy a fetal doppler device and other quality accessories for your pregnancy, don't hesitate to visit our website today at BabyHeart Australia.

What is a doppler test in pregnancy?

A doppler test makes use of a fetal doppler, and it is primarily a test used to listen to a baby’s heartbeat while it is still in the womb.

Medical professionals use fetal dopplers daily to detect babies’ heartbeats in the womb. These devices are completely safe and do not require a prescription. A fetal doppler emits waves approximately forty times smaller than those emitted by an ultrasound machine.

When to use doppler for pregnancy?

From approximately 12 weeks of age, our premium doppler can amplify your baby's heart rate. It accomplishes all of this with less than half of the industry-standard ultrasound dosage, making it a popular option with midwives, obstetricians, and parents.

All of our other dopplers, including both the advanced and standard options, can also detect fetal heart rates from 12 weeks onwards. In general, our fetal doppler is most effective when used during the third trimester of pregnancy since it is only an audio-only device.

Using our baby heartbeat doppler is easy, and we strongly recommend doing a patch test with the ultrasound gel if it's your first time. This is to potentially avoid an allergic reaction that could be harmful to you and your baby. Dab a small amount on any patch of skin and wait for 24 hours. Once time has passed, and you haven’t experienced any adverse effects, you can begin using our baby fetal doppler with the gel.

Here is a quick step by step guide on how to use your at-home doppler machine:

  1. Ensure the batteries are properly inserted or fully charged.
  2. Make yourself comfortable! You can lie in bed with pillows behind you or on a couch or armchair.
  3. Make sure that the lower part of your abdomen is visible by rolling your shirt up and lowering the waist of your pants or skirt.
  4. Apply some ultrasound transmission gel to your lower abdomen, covering the area from beneath your belly button to the level of your pelvis between your hips.
  5. Turn on your heartbeat monitor and place the probe of your doppler gently but firmly against your lower belly.
  6. As you move the probe around, you may be able to notice the fetal heart rate. It is important to keep in mind that the further along in your pregnancy you are, the easier it will be to find a heartbeat.

If you’re using our mini doppler, the instructions are the same, but you place the entire device against your abdomen as the probe is connected to the mini doppler.

How to read doppler ultrasound in pregnancy?

The primary use of our doppler pregnancy devices is to display the fetal heart rate. This value is essentially how much your baby’s heart is beating per minute.

A typical fetal heart rate is between 120 and 180 beats per minute (BPM). Fetal dopplers can also pick up the mother’s heartbeat at times. If you’re finding it difficult distinguishing which is which, know that the mother’s heartbeat is between 60 to 80 BPM. Do note that some factors could influence the heart rate, including:

  • Smoking tobacco products
  • Drinking large amounts of caffeine

Extra noises can mask the signals, such as the mother's heartbeat or stomach rumbling. One of the most common sounds is a ‘whooshing’ noise. You might hear this when you move past the placenta or when you feel movement in your belly.

It is important to remember that while our doppler pregnancy device works similarly to ultrasound, we strongly recommend visiting the doctor and making your regular ultrasound appointments. Only a medical professional can monitor your baby's health and provide a diagnosis for any problems that may arise during pregnancy.
